Meet Tim Mavro
Tim has been behind the wheel and on the job site since 2002. He started at RM Packer Company — first at the gas station, then oil burner assistance, and eventually earned his Class A CDL with hazmat endorsement, driving fuel trucks across the island for over 13 years. From there he moved into excavation, trucking, and septic work with Maciel and Son and Daniel Rogers Excavation. Today, on top of running MIS, Tim still makes twice-weekly trailer runs to New Hampshire for Reliable Market.
Tim holds a CDL Class A with hazmat endorsement, a hydraulics/hoisting license, OSHA certification, and has AED and First Aid certification. After 20-plus years of island work, there isn't a road, pit, or job site on Martha's Vineyard he doesn't know.
Meet Kandace Mavro
Kandace handles the business side of MIS — and she's right alongside Tim on job sites when needed. She started her career as a teller at Edgartown National Bank in 2007 and worked her way up to branch manager, loan originator, and officer by 2012. After the bank, she managed all cash operations and bookkeeping at Our Market Corporation in Oak Bluffs for four years. She's also been a professional organizer since 2004.
Today, Kandace manages the books for multiple small businesses across industries including solar, HVAC, nonprofit, and construction. She's proficient in QuickBooks Online, handles everything from A/R and A/P to payroll administration and 1099 preparation, and holds a notary public commission and a hydraulics license.
Our Story
Tim and Kandace are high school sweethearts — both MVRHS class of 2006. They've known each other even longer than that. As a kid, Tim's grandmother used to bring him by Red Hill Farm, where Kandace grew up. They started dating in 2004, married in June 2011, and are raising their two kids on the same island where they both grew up.
They started Mavro Island Services because they wanted the flexibility to work for themselves while serving the community they've been part of their whole lives. Martha's Vineyard has changed a lot over the years, but Tim and Kandace are still here — doing the work, answering the phone, and showing up when they say they will.
